How to use Raycast to Open a Directory Quickly on MacOS

Today I learned how to use Raycast to quickly open a frequently used folder on my Mac. If you find yourself digging through Finder to get to the same folder over and over again, this little trick will save you clicks—and time.

🛠️ The Trick: Create a Quicklink

Raycast has a feature called Quicklinks that lets you assign a custom name or shortcut to anything you can open, including folders. Here's how I set it up:

✅ Steps to Create a Quicklink for a Folder in Raycast

  1. Open Raycast (⌥ + Space by default).

  2. Type “Quicklink” and select “Create Quicklink”.

  3. In the Link field, drag your frequently used folder from Finder into the field, or manually type its path (like /Users/yourname/Documents/WorkStuff).

  4. Give it a short, memorable Name (e.g. workfolder).

  5. Optionally, assign a Keyword or a Hotkey for even faster access.

  6. Hit Add Quicklink and you're done!

Now, all I have to do is open Raycast and type workfolder—boom, it opens right in Finder.

Why This Is Great

  • No more navigating deep folder trees.

  • Assign keywords or hotkeys for speed.

  • Keeps your flow uninterrupted.

This is a small tweak, but it makes a big difference when you're in and out of certain folders all day.
