This morning I ordered, as part of my breakfast, a sesame bagel. Apparently they ran out. So the server brought over the breakfast with a poppy seed bagel and ask if that was okay as a substitute. I said sure. The observation is why did she think a poppy seed bagel is the right substitute for the sesame bagel? Because they both have little seeds sticking to the outside? I wonder statistically how many people who like sesame bagel also like poppy seed bagel. I'd say 37.5%. I also learnt a new trick from a server lastnight at dinner -- Credit card roulet. She told this story of a group of diners presented her with a stack of credit cards and basically let her pick one to charge the meal to. Good idea don't you think? I have to try that next time.
